Ant Control in Lewisham: what we see locally
Black garden ants nest in back gardens, patios and the gaps between paving, and come into kitchens in summer. Terraced houses with kitchen extensions in Brockley, Hither Green and Catford are often affected.
In heated buildings, including estates and hospitals, we also find pharaoh ants, which nest indoors and need specialist baiting. We identify the species first, then use baits the ants carry back to the nest.
On flying ant days in July, the paved gardens behind Lewisham's terraces often reveal colonies nesting under the back step or along the boundary wall. If ants appear in the same spot each summer, the nest is close by.
Where we find ants in Lewisham
- Kitchen extensions: Ants enter where extensions meet the house.
