Flea Treatment in Lambeth: what we see locally
Clapham Common, Brockwell Park, Streatham Common and Kennington Park are busy with dog walkers, and urban foxes are very common across Lambeth. Fleas picked up outdoors end up in carpets, sofas and pet beds.
We often treat fleas in rented flats where a previous tenant had pets, as dormant pupae hatch when new occupants arrive. Our treatment covers carpets, floors and soft furnishings, and we explain how to treat your pets with your vet.
Fleas thrive in Lambeth's warm, carpeted flats and breed fastest from July to October. Many of our calls come from tenants in Brixton, Stockwell and Streatham who have just moved into a flat where a previous occupant had a pet.
Where we find fleas in Lambeth
- Homes with cats and dogs: Pets bring fleas back from parks and commons.
- Newly let flats: Dormant pupae hatch when people move in.
- Carpeted bedrooms: Larvae develop in carpets and underlay.
- Garden flats visited by foxes: Foxes bring fleas into gardens.
Our flea treatment service covers the whole of Lambeth, including Brixton, Clapham, Herne Hill, Kennington, Oval, Stockwell, Streatham, Tulse Hill, Vauxhall, Waterloo and West Norwood, with same-day or next-day visits.
Keeping fleas out of Lambeth homes
Keep every pet on a vet-recommended flea treatment, wash pet bedding weekly and vacuum often. If you move into a flat that had pets, ask whether it was treated.
How we treat fleas
- Pre-treatment checklist: vacuum thoroughly and treat pets with a vet-approved product
- Residual insecticide spray with growth regulator over all floor areas
- Keep rooms clear for a few hours, then vacuum daily to trigger hatching
- Follow-up treatment available if activity continues
