Cluster Fly Loft Fumigation in Hackney: what we see locally
Cluster flies breed in grassland, and Hackney Marshes, the Walthamstow Marshes just to the north and the open spaces of Victoria Park and Springfield Park provide plenty. In autumn, the adults look for sheltered places to spend the winter.
Homes in Clapton, Hackney Wick and Homerton, closest to the marshes, are most likely to see cluster flies gathering in roof voids and at top-floor windows.
They're harmless but unpleasant in large numbers, and they return to the same buildings each autumn.

- Homes near Hackney Marshes: Open grassland supports cluster fly numbers.
- Houses near Springfield Park: Parkland and marshes nearby.
- Top-floor flats: Flies gather in roof voids.
